A2 line train disruptions loom as major construction begins late May

Major construction work will disrupt train services on the A2 line between Norderstedt and Kaltenkirchen from late May to early June. Passengers should prepare for cancellations, replacement buses and delays of up to 30 minutes during the affected period.

The first phase of closures begins on Tuesday, May 26, at 4:00 AM, when all trains between Kaltenkirchen and Kaltenkirchen Süd will be cancelled. Replacement buses will serve this route until Tuesday, June 2, at 4:00 AM.

A full shutdown will then take place from Saturday, May 30, at 3:00 AM until Monday, June 1, at 3:00 AM. During this time, no trains will operate between Kaltenkirchen and Norderstedt Mitte. Instead, replacement buses will run between both Kaltenkirchen and Kaltenkirchen Süd, as well as between Kaltenkirchen and Norderstedt Mitte. Throughout the entire construction period, commuters on the A2 line should expect train cancellations and rail replacement services. Delays of roughly 20 to 30 minutes are likely for those travelling between Norderstedt and Kaltenkirchen.

The work will impact travel plans for nearly a week, with the most severe disruptions occurring over the weekend of May 30 to June 1. Passengers are advised to check schedules in advance and allow extra time for their journeys.
