Lake Balkhash's new resort zone transforms a quiet village into a tourist paradise

The shores of Lake Balkhash near Lepsy village are undergoing a major transformation into a tourist hotspot. A new resort zone is being developed with three public beaches, each designed for different visitors. The project follows a structured architectural plan to avoid the disorganised growth seen elsewhere in the region. Construction is already under way for Beach No. 1, set to open in July 2026. It will cover nearly seven hectares, with space for 500 cars and capacity for over 3,000 people at once. Beach No. 2, opening a month later, will cater to families with children, offering shallow waters and a child-friendly lakebed. It will also feature an amphitheatre for evening cartoon screenings. Beach No. 3 will provide a peaceful retreat for older visitors seeking quiet.

All three beaches will include playgrounds and workout zones. Beyond the beaches, the area now benefits from improved infrastructure. A 137-kilometre highway to Lake Balkhash has been fully rebuilt, complete with modern roadside facilities. A new 9.3-kilometre asphalt road has also been laid along the shoreline. Lepsy village now has direct utility links to the lake, including water supply, power lines, and centralised sewage systems. The development aims to attract more tourists to the region each year. With better roads, utilities, and dedicated beach spaces, the area is now prepared for a significant rise in visitors. The structured approach ensures long-term appeal for a wide range of holidaymakers.
