London's first ultra-rapid EV charging hub opens near Heathrow Airport
London’s first of 25 planned EV charging hubs opened on June 12, 2026. The Hatton Cross site is located near Heathrow Airport and major motorways, offering round-the-clock service for electric vehicle drivers. The hub includes 12 ultra-rapid charging bays, each delivering up to 400 kW. Compatible EVs can add 100 miles of range in just five minutes. Two of the bays are fully accessible, with extra-wide spaces for easier use.
Powered entirely by renewable energy, the site supports London’s target of 40,000 public charge points by 2030. More than half of the high-powered chargers needed by 2030 are already in place. With over 175,000 battery-electric cars and vans registered in the city, demand for such facilities is growing.
To mark its launch, the hub offered free charging from June 15 to June 19, 2026. The Hatton Cross hub is now operational and available 24 hours a day. It strengthens London’s charging network and supports the shift to electric transport. The city plans to roll out 24 more hubs in the coming years.
