Omsk power plant faces warning over suspected illegal pollution spikes
Regulators have issued a formal warning to PJSC TGC-11, a power company based in Omsk. The notice, dated 24 June 2026, flags suspected emissions that pushed local pollution above legal limits. Authorities stress the warning is preventive and does not confirm any breach. Elevated levels of hazardous substances were recorded in Omsk between 31 May and 12 June 2026. During this time, hydrogen sulfide concentrations exceeded the maximum permissible limits by 1.12 to 2.5 times.
In April 2026, ammonia levels also spiked, surpassing the allowed threshold by 1.86 times. Inspectors suspect TGC-11’s facilities may have released the excess emissions. The warning now urges the company to ensure full compliance with environmental protection laws.
The document clarifies that the warning is not a formal finding of guilt. TGC-11 retains the right to challenge the notice if it disagrees with the regulator’s assessment. The company must now address the concerns raised by the authorities. If no further action is taken, the warning will remain a preventive measure. Compliance with emission standards will determine whether additional steps follow.
