Germany's Record Heatwave Hits 38°C with Storm Warnings Issued

Germany is bracing for its hottest days of the year so far. A heatwave will begin on Thursday, with several regions already under official heat alerts. The German Meteorological Service (DWD) has issued warnings for large parts of southwestern Germany. These alerts cover Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, and parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, and Bavaria. The warning is active from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Thursday.

Temperatures in the southwest could reach 34°C on Thursday. The north will stay cooler, with highs of around 24°C. On Friday, most areas will see 30 to 35°C, while western and southwestern regions may hit 38°C.

Over the weekend, some places could again reach 38°C. The heat will also bring severe thunderstorms in certain areas. The upcoming days are set to be the warmest of the year in Germany so far. Residents in affected regions should prepare for extreme heat and possible storms. Officials advise caution during the peak warning hours.
