Biysk's sleek new trams hit the streets in phased rollout
Biysk has begun operating its first two new trams on city routes. These vehicles were delivered from Yaroslavl as part of a larger fleet upgrade. The remaining trams are set to follow in the coming months. All 20 trams arrived in Biysk in March 2026. Before entering service, each one requires extensive cosmetic work inside and out. Painting takes the longest, though the colour scheme stays the same to match official standards.
The rollout will happen in stages. One or two trams will start running each month, gradually appearing on all major routes. They will replace older models but not the entire fleet at once.
Currently, Biysk operates around 22 to 24 trams daily. The new vehicles will join this rotation as they become ready. The phased introduction means residents will see the new trams appear slowly across the city. Each will meet the required visual and functional standards before service. Over time, they will refresh Biysk’s public transport network.
