Bolt and Klarna team up to simplify payments for rides and rentals
Bolt has partnered with Klarna to offer new payment options in its app. The collaboration allows users in Sweden, Germany, Finland, and Norway to pay for rides, scooters, and car rentals with Klarna. Customers can choose to pay upfront or in monthly instalments. Klarna has integrated its payment system into Bolt’s platform using tokenised technology. This ensures smooth and secure transactions for users. The service is set to become fully available across all four countries by the end of June 2026.
Bolt currently serves over 200 million customers in more than 50 countries. Klarna, with over 119 million active users globally, sees this partnership as a way to expand into everyday spending. Björn Bryngelson, Klarna’s Head of Nordics, said the company aims to be part of daily decisions, such as choosing transport.
Kaspar Loog, Bolt’s Commerce and Payments Group Product Manager, noted that adding Klarna gives customers another easy way to pay. The option to split payments or pay in full provides flexibility for Bolt’s users. The partnership connects two major platforms in mobility and payments. It introduces a new way for millions of users to manage transport costs. The full rollout will complete by mid-2026.
