Germany denies Deutsche Bahn extra funds despite €170B already allocated

German Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder has ruled out additional financial support for Deutsche Bahn. The company already has nearly €170 billion available for the current legislative term. Schnieder insists the existing funds are sufficient for significant progress. Over €106 billion of the allocated money is specifically set aside for rail projects. Schnieder believes Deutsche Bahn can achieve major improvements with these resources. He expects reliability to increase as construction projects are completed.

The minister is pushing for greater efficiency and faster infrastructure expansion. He also demands accelerated digitisation of the network. Schnieder has made it clear that modernising operations and infrastructure must be a priority.

He acknowledges that improvements will take time. Schnieder has ruled out any 'short-term massive leaps forward' for the rail operator. Deutsche Bahn must now use the available funds effectively. The focus remains on long-term efforts to enhance reliability and modernise the system. No extra financial aid will be provided under the current plans.
