Big boost for commuters as Valencia extends travel discounts

Valencian Community extends public transport discounts through 2026

Public transport users across the Valencian Community will keep enjoying reduced fares until the end of 2026. The decision extends existing discounts on regional networks, bringing relief to daily commuters and families. The move aims to support households and promote sustainable travel habits. The Generalitat and the Spanish government will jointly fund the scheme. Together, they will cover an extra 20% of the discount on top of existing subsidies. This ensures that regular users continue to receive at least a 40% reduction on season tickets and multi-trip passes.

Special provisions remain in place for vulnerable groups. Residents in areas hit by the DANA floods in October 2024 will keep their free travel passes until December 2026. Young people under 31 will still benefit from a 50% discount, while children aged 14 and under travel at no cost.

The extension applies to all major regional services. These include TRAM d'Alacant, Metrovalencia, TAM, and Castellón’s metropolitan transport. The measure forms part of a national effort to maintain affordable travel and encourage greener mobility. The fare reductions will remain active through 2026. They provide financial relief for commuters, students, and families while supporting wider goals of sustainable transport. The scheme also ensures continued free travel for flood-affected residents and children under 15.
