Tbilisi-Senaki highway faces major closures for urgent road repairs
Major roadworks will disrupt traffic on the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway in the coming days. Repairs on the km 87–km 88 section will require full or partial closures of the carriageway. Drivers are advised to expect delays and follow diversion routes. From June 17 at 08:00 to June 20, the Senaki-Tbilisi direction will be closed. During this period, vehicles will be diverted to the Gori tunnels access road of internal importance. Traffic will be managed alternately to maintain movement through the area.
From June 22 at 08:00 to June 25, the Tbilisi-Senaki direction will also be closed. Traffic in this direction will be redirected through the opposite tunnel lane. Senaki-Tbilisi traffic will use the access road as an alternative route.
Additionally, the Gori tunnels on the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway will have alternating restrictions between June 17–20 and June 22–25. The works involve pavement repairs and pothole restoration to improve road conditions. The closures and diversions are necessary for essential repair works. Drivers should plan their journeys accordingly and follow the signposted routes. The measures aim to ensure safety and minimise disruption during the construction period.
