Lübeck's Possehlbrücke to undergo major repairs starting July 2026
Warranty repair work on Lübeck’s Possehlbrücke will start on 1 July 2026. The project involves replacing expansion joints and fixing the underside of the bridge. All works are currently set to finish by 24 July 2026. From 1 July, the bridge will stay open to traffic in both directions, but lanes will be narrowed. Pedestrians and cyclists will be redirected to the western side during the work.
From 6 July, trucks over 7.5 tons will be banned from the city-bound direction. Bus routes 7 and 30 heading to the central bus station (ZOB) will also be diverted on the same date.
On 8 and 9 July, the riverside paths beneath the bridge will be closed. Despite these changes, the crossing will remain accessible throughout the project. The repairs are scheduled to last until 24 July 2026. Lane restrictions, diversions, and temporary closures will be in place during this period. The bridge will remain functional for most traffic and users.
