Tram damage at HAVAG: Tramway closure between Leuna and Bad Dürrenberg, Movemix Shuttle in Paulusviertel cancelled today

Extreme heat forces tram line closure in Saale district

Extreme heat has damaged tram tracks on Line 5 in the Saale district. The section between Bad Dürrenberg and Leuna/Pfalzplatz is now closed for repairs. Hallesche Verkehrs-AG (HAVAG) has arranged replacement transport for affected passengers. The damage occurred due to high temperatures, which made immediate repairs impossible. The rails needed time to cool before work could begin. Infrastructure crews are now restoring at least one track for service as quickly as possible.

HAVAG has set up a replacement bus service between Leuna/Pfalzplatz and Bad Dürrenberg. This service will run from the start of operations on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Passengers are advised to use the designated stops for the replacement buses.

Additionally, the movemix_shuttle service in Paulusviertel will be suspended all day on June 28. This allows sufficient replacement transport to support the regional tram network. The replacement bus service will be active on June 28, 2026, from the beginning of service. Passengers should follow the updated travel instructions until tram services resume. Repairs are underway to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
