Komsomolsk-on-Amur completes half of its ambitious road safety upgrades

Komsomolsk-on-Amur has made significant progress on its road safety improvements. The city has completed over half of its planned measures, with funding exceeding 115 million rubles from regional and local budgets. The municipal government of Khabarovsk Territory has allocated over 114 million rubles for the projects. An additional 1.1 million rubles has been contributed by the regional authorities.

So far, 17 out of 37 pedestrian crossings have been upgraded. Barriers have also been installed along a 712-meter section of Lazo Street to separate opposing traffic lanes.

Two new traffic light systems are now operational at the intersections of Kirov and Ordjonikidze streets, and Komsomolskaya and Pionerskaya streets. Three more traffic lights will soon include audio signals to assist visually impaired pedestrians.

By 2026, the city plans to install 248 new road signs. Over 1,200 square meters of sidewalks will also be repaired as part of the ongoing improvements. With 50.5% of the planned safety measures already finished, the upgrades aim to enhance road conditions for drivers and pedestrians. Further installations and repairs will continue in the coming years.
