Deutsche Bahn deploys mobile teams to revamp Germany's train stations

Deutsche Bahn is launching a new initiative to improve train stations across Germany. The plan involves faster repairs and better upkeep to enhance the experience for travellers. Mobile teams will play a key role in the effort. The company has introduced 44 mobile maintenance teams to handle repairs more efficiently. These units are spread across the country, supporting the existing network of around 400 inspectors. They will tackle both small and large tasks, from fixing broken glass to removing graffiti and repairing faulty equipment.

Around 200 additional staff have been deployed to focus on cleanliness, safety, and the overall appearance of stations. The mobile teams will prioritise stations outside major cities, where repairs have often taken longer. Katja Hüske, a member of DB InfraGO’s executive board, called train stations the 'calling card' of Deutsche Bahn, highlighting their importance to the company’s image. The new teams aim to deliver quicker repairs and visible improvements for passengers. Deutsche Bahn also plans to invest over €50 million in 2026 to further upgrade its facilities. The initiative seeks to make stations cleaner, safer, and more welcoming for everyone who uses them.
