Gazelle Van Seized Twice Over 3 Million Rubles in Unpaid Fines
A Gazelle van was first flagged by traffic cameras in December 2021 for unpaid fines. The owner owed over 200,000 rubles, sparking a long-running dispute with authorities. The case later escalated into a larger financial and legal issue. The van’s troubles began in late 2021 when automatic cameras detected over 100 unpaid traffic penalties. These fines added up to more than 200,000 rubles. The owner initially settled part of the debt to prevent seizure of the vehicle.
By June 2022, the situation worsened. The Federal Bailiff Service stepped in after the total debt—including taxes and penalties—reached nearly 2 million rubles. The van was seized as a result.
Four months after the first seizure, the same driver accumulated another 1 million rubles in fines. This led to the van being impounded once more. The Gazelle van faced repeated legal action due to growing unpaid debts. Authorities impounded the vehicle twice within a year. The owner’s failure to resolve fines consistently resulted in further enforcement measures.
