New T-shaped interchange to transform city traffic by 2028

A major new interchange is under construction at the junction of Tikhoretskaya, Volodarskogo, and Shevchenko streets. The project forms part of the city’s ‘25/35’ infrastructure programme and aims to improve traffic flow in the area. Work on the site has already begun. Crews are relocating communication networks, sewage, water supply, electrical, and gas lines to clear space for the structure. Around 70% of the pile foundation for the overpass is now complete, and two supports near the railway have been erected.

The design includes two overpasses. One will connect Tikhoretskaya Street with Volodarskogo Street, while the other will provide an exit from Tikhoretskaya Street onto Shevchenko Street. By the end of the year, workers plan to install two spans of the structure and build a reinforced soil retaining wall along Tikhoretskaya Street.

The interchange will be built in four stages. Once finished, it will become the city’s first overpass with a T-shaped intersection. The interchange is expected to open to vehicles by 2028. It will ease congestion on existing routes, including the Northern Bridges. The project remains on track to meet its planned completion date.
