BEST and EveyTrans clash over unpaid subsidies for 2,100 electric buses
A dispute has arisen between BEST and EveyTrans over subsidy payments for a 2,100-bus electric contract. The manufacturer has supplied 686 buses but claims it has received payments for only 10 of them. This has led EveyTrans to propose halting further deliveries under the agreement. EveyTrans was due to receive a ₹15 lakh subsidy for each bus delivered under the 2,100-bus contract. However, the company states it has not received most of these payments. As a result, it has asked to stop additional deliveries, citing financial strain.
The proposal is now under review by BEST. Both sides are in discussions to find a resolution. EveyTrans has also offered to start deliveries for a separate 2,400-bus contract from August 2026.
To reduce costs, the manufacturer suggests using the existing charging infrastructure for both contracts. This would avoid the need for extra investment. BEST’s plans to expand its electric bus fleet rely on timely supplier deliveries. The outcome of the talks will determine the future of the 2,100-bus contract. EveyTrans remains open to a compromise. Any delay in resolving the issue could affect BEST’s electric bus expansion timeline.
