A7 Motorway Near Seesen Undergoes Emergency Repairs After Accidents
Repair work on the A7 motorway near Seesen, heading toward Hanover, started on June 13. The project follows two traffic accidents on June 11 and 12 that damaged the road surface and surrounding soil. Traffic has been restricted to one lane with an 80 km/h speed limit since June 12. On June 12, a fire caused diesel and extinguishing agents to leak into the ground. This required soil replacement over a 100-metre stretch. The repairs now cover a 1.5-kilometre section, affecting two of the three lanes.
The work involves removing and replacing parts of the asphalt surface, including the open-pored layer and sealing coat. The estimated cost for the repairs is in the low to mid six-figure range. All three lanes are expected to reopen by June 17. Via Niedersachsen has asked drivers to exercise caution and follow the speed limits in the construction zone. The repairs aim to restore the motorway to full capacity by the weekend. The project addresses both surface and environmental damage from the recent accidents.
