Yogi Adityanath fast-tracks ₹2,791 crore Agra infrastructure overhaul

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reviewed development plans and law-and-order measures for Agra Division. He directed officials to ensure high-quality infrastructure and address key challenges in the region. The meeting covered proposals for major roadworks, bridges, and urban improvements worth crores of rupees. During the comprehensive review, the Chief Minister instructed authorities to upgrade Agra’s facilities to metro standards. This includes water supply, sewerage systems, roads, and urban beautification. He also emphasised the need for strict monitoring of illegal mining and stray cattle issues affecting the area.

A total of 495 development projects worth approximately ₹2,791 crore were proposed. These include road construction, strengthening existing roads, building bridges, and constructing a helipad. Priority was given to reconstructing the Govardhan Parikrama Marg using modern technology.

Key demands such as the Dayalbagh-Khandauli Bypass, a new Yamuna bridge, and solutions for waterlogging on Gwalior Road were highlighted. Legal obstacles for Agra Airport expansion, bridge projects, and road widening must be resolved promptly. Additionally, heavy vehicles are now banned from rural roads in Agra Division, with owners liable for any resulting damage. The Chief Minister made it clear that no compromises on quality would be accepted in development works. All proposed projects must meet strict standards to transform Agra’s infrastructure. Officials have been tasked with ensuring timely and effective implementation of the plans.
