Cyprus extends fuel tax cuts to ease costs for drivers
Cyprus' House of Representatives has unanimously approved a bill to extend reduced excise tax rates on motor fuels. The legislation aims to maintain lower costs for drivers across the country. The bill was submitted by the Ministry of Finance and processed under an urgent procedure. Before the vote, the House Finance and Budget Committee held an extraordinary meeting to review the proposal. All 38 members present in the plenary session supported the measure.
The new law extends the current reduced excise tax rates on certain fuel products for an additional two months. Without this extension, the lower rates would have expired on 30 June 2026. The unanimous vote ensures the reduced tax rates remain in place. Drivers will continue to benefit from lower fuel costs for the extended period. The decision reflects the government’s effort to ease financial pressure on motorists.
