Tartu raises public transport fares by up to 20% starting July 2023
Public transport fares in Tartu are set to rise on 1 July 2023. The increase will affect bus, bikeshare, and combined passes for residents and visitors alike. Most categories will see a jump of roughly 15 to 20 per cent. Single hourly bus fares will go up from €1 to €1.20 for residents. For non-residents, the same fare will rise from €1.50 to €1.80. Children’s discounted fares will also increase, reaching €0.75 for residents and €1.10 for non-residents.
Monthly bus passes for residents will climb from €18.50 to €21.30. Bikeshare passes for residents will increase from €12 to €14. Combined bus-bikeshare passes will rise from €26 to €30.
The city is also simplifying its fare structure. Five-day passes and hourly bikeshare fares will no longer be available. New options will include a €6 day pass and a €0.20-per-minute rate for bikeshare users. Registered residents aged 65 and above will continue to travel for free. The changes take effect on 1 July 2023. All fare categories will see a noticeable price rise. The updated system aims to offer clearer choices for passengers while maintaining free travel for eligible seniors.
