"Don't Slow Down": New Road in Sunny Krasnoyarsk Being Built Ahead of Schedule

Krasnoyarsk's 1.9B-ruble bypass road races ahead of 2027 deadline

A major new bypass road is under construction in Krasnoyarsk’s Solnechny district. The project aims to improve transport links for the area’s 75,000 residents. Work is progressing ahead of schedule, with completion expected by late November 2027. Construction began in May 2025, with a total budget of 1.9 billion rubles allocated over three years. Federal funding made the project possible, with nearly 2 billion rubles provided under an infrastructure loan.

The road will duplicate the Yenisei Highway and May 9th Street, running from Gribolevskaya Street through Sovetsky and Tavakov Streets in Solontsy-2. It will connect to the interchange of Severnoye Highway and Aviatorov Street. The main carriageway will have four lanes in most sections and six lanes in others, stretching approximately 4.45 kilometres.

The project includes landscaping, street lighting, and all necessary infrastructure. Bus stops will be installed along the route, and public transport services will launch once the road opens. The work is divided into two phases, both under way simultaneously, with crews operating in two shifts to meet the deadline ahead of the city’s 400th anniversary. The bypass is set to open in late 2027, offering an alternative route to the city centre. It will ease traffic congestion and improve access for local residents. The road is part of broader efforts to upgrade Krasnoyarsk’s transport network before its 400th anniversary celebrations.
