Trams to the airport will be launched again in Tallinn

Tallinn's trams return to the airport with new routes and clearer numbering

Tallinn’s tram network will see major changes from August. Services to the airport and Ülemiste City will return after a long pause. New routes and updated numbering aim to improve travel across the city. Tram service to the airport and Ülemiste City was halted in 2023. The closure followed construction work on the Vanasadam line and Yulemiste railway terminal. Passengers have relied on alternative transport for nearly three years.

From 1 August, the airport will be served by two routes: T2 and T4. T2 will run between Kopli and Vanasadam Airport, while T4 connects Tondi Airport to the city. All tram routes will now carry the letter 'T' before their numbers to help with navigation.

A new route, T6, will launch at the end of August. It will link Kopli, the city centre, and the Suur Paala area. Until then, temporary buses will cover the T6 path. After the update, most trams will run every 10 minutes, with T5 operating every 20 minutes. The changes mark the end of nearly three years of service disruptions. Regular tram routes to key locations will resume, and new connections will expand the network. The updated system is set to make travel in Tallinn clearer and more reliable.
