Sochi imposes fuel purchase limits amid surge in demand and supply concerns

Sochi has introduced temporary fuel purchase limits at several petrol stations. The move comes after a surge in demand and concerns over artificial hype. Authorities have assured residents that supplies remain stable across the city. Eight Gazpromneft and NTC stations have stopped selling fuel due to supply orders. Five Rosneft and Lukoil stations are also closed, but only for planned repairs and rebranding. The remaining 45 of Sochi’s 58 stations are operating normally, all stocking AI-92 and AI-95 petrol.

To manage demand, different chains have set their own limits. Lukoil allows up to 20 litres of petrol and 60 litres of diesel per customer. Gazpromneft and Gazprom permit 30 litres of petrol and 60 litres of diesel. Rosneft has the highest cap, with 50 litres of petrol and 250 litres of diesel per purchase. All stations have also restricted sales into jerry cans.

The local administration has asked drivers to avoid panic buying. Officials confirmed that all necessary fuel reserves are available in Sochi. The restrictions aim to prevent shortages caused by excessive purchases. Authorities stress that fuel remains accessible for normal use. Drivers are urged to buy only what they need for immediate travel.
