Nuremberg trams halted as extreme heat disrupts city transport

VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg has temporarily halted tram services in the city because of extreme heat. The suspension began around 6 p.m. on Saturday and continued until the end of service on Sunday. Several key routes were impacted by the disruption. Tram lines 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11 were all affected by the suspension. To minimise inconvenience, VAG introduced replacement bus and taxi services on important routes. These included Plärrer, Westfriedhof, Am Wegfeld, and Gibitzenhof.

Additional substitute services were also put in place between Hauptbahnhof and Möldorf, as well as between Frankenstraße and Worzeldorf. Despite these measures, passengers were warned to expect delays and longer travel times. The extreme heat forced VAG to suspend tram operations for over a day. Replacement transport helped maintain connections across the city. Normal services resumed after the heat subsided.
