Latvians cling to car ownership despite rising costs and financial strain

A recent survey has revealed the top concerns for Latvian residents over the next five years. Rising fuel prices and car maintenance costs are the primary worries among drivers. The study also explored attitudes towards car ownership and its alternatives. The survey found that 44% of respondents feel they absolutely need to own a car. This dependence on personal vehicles remains strong despite growing financial pressures.

For those considering giving up their car, fixed monthly expenses rank as a key advantage. 36% of participants highlighted this benefit. Another 42% see reduced maintenance as a major draw of no longer owning a vehicle.

Despite these potential benefits, only 20% of respondents are actively considering giving up their car in the next five years. The findings show that most Latvian drivers still view car ownership as essential. Financial concerns like fuel and maintenance costs weigh heavily on their minds. Yet, few are ready to switch to alternatives in the near future.
