Sber Revives Russia's Scientific Legacy with AI-Powered Digital Archives
Sber has joined the Technological Legacy project, a major initiative to preserve Russia’s scientific heritage. The project will use modern technology to document and share the contributions of outstanding Russian scientists for future generations. The project focuses on collecting archival documents, photographs, publications, and memoirs related to prominent scientists. Based on these materials, Sber specialists will create AI-powered digital representations of each researcher. A virtual avenue of scientists and educational resources will also be developed from the gathered information.
Regions such as Saratov, Ivanovo, Kursk, Novosibirsk, Tula, Bashkortostan, and St. Petersburg have already agreed to participate. The results will be showcased at the closing event of the Strong Ideas for a New Era forum on August 10–11 in Nizhny Novgorod.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of Sberbank, views the project as a chance to safeguard and promote Russia’s scientific legacy through technology. Svetlana Chupsheva, Director General of ASI, emphasised the need to preserve the experience and memory of these scientists for younger generations. The forum itself is organised by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Roscongress Foundation, with VEB.RF and the Nizhny Novgorod regional government as co-organisers. The Technological Legacy project will present its findings at a major forum in Nizhny Novgorod. Digital representations and educational resources will help keep the memory of Russia’s leading scientists alive. The initiative aims to ensure their contributions remain accessible to the public.
