Hannover S-Bahn expands fleet to combat heatwave delays and boost reliability

Hannover S-Bahn is boosting its fleet to improve reliability during the current heatwave. The operator will add three new Mireo Smart trains and one additional Flirt train. These changes aim to stabilise services across key routes. The three Mireo trains from Siemens Mobility will start running immediately. They will serve lines S3, S6, S7, and S61 from the first day of operation.

A Flirt series 1430 train from Bayerische Oberlandbahn is also joining the fleet. This train will operate on weekdays from 13 July on line S6. It will also run select trips on line S77 starting earlier. The new trains are set to enhance service stability during warm weather. Passengers on the affected lines can expect improved punctuality and capacity. The additions address current operational challenges on the network.
