Ukraine Unveils AI-Powered P1-SUN Long Drone That Spots Shaheds Faster Than Human Operators

SkyFall's AI-powered drone interceptor is reshaping Ukraine's air defense

SkyFall has introduced an upgraded version of its drone interceptor, the P1-SUN Long. This new model features an advanced artificial intelligence module. It is already being used by Ukrainian forces in combat operations. The P1-SUN Long’s AI module allows it to detect, track and engage aerial targets without human intervention. Its guidance system can lock onto threats from up to one kilometre away. The AI was trained using real combat data, simulations and SkyFall’s own platform.

The interceptor is part of SkyFall’s remote-control network. Operators can manage it from any location with a stable internet connection. The system also supports remote software updates, letting teams deploy new neural network models and algorithm improvements as needed.

SkyFall and Airbus Defence and Space have signed a memorandum of understanding. The agreement aims to create a strategic partnership for countering drone and missile threats in Ukraine and across Europe. The P1-SUN Long has already proven effective, with dozens of confirmed interceptions of Russian Shahed-type attack drones. Its AI software runs on standard CPU and GPU hardware, ensuring compatibility with existing systems. The P1-SUN Long is currently operational in Ukraine. Its AI-driven capabilities and remote management features provide a flexible defence solution. The partnership with Airbus Defence and Space is expected to expand its use in European air defence.
