Azerbaijan Airlines Launches New Kazakhstan Routes to Strengthen Ties
Azerbaijan Airlines has expanded its connections with Kazakhstan. The carrier launched a new route between Shymkent and Baku on 16 June, adding three weekly flights. This move is part of broader efforts to boost travel and trade between the two countries. The first flight on the Shymkent–Baku route took off on 16 June. This addition raised the total number of weekly flights between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan from 30 to 33.
AZAL has further plans for the region. Regular services on the Aktobe–Baku route will begin with three flights per week. Atyrau–Baku will follow, offering four weekly flights.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport stated that the new routes would improve trade, economic, business, and tourism links. Meanwhile, on 19 June, the first Emirates SkyCargo freight flight landed in Almaty, marking another step in the country’s growing air connectivity. The new AZAL routes increase flight options between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. They also support the Ministry of Transport’s goal of expanding destinations and flight frequencies. The added connections are set to facilitate stronger ties in multiple sectors.
