AWS Context debuts to sharpen AI reasoning with dynamic knowledge graphs
AWS has introduced AWS Context, a new service designed to enhance AI reasoning by mapping relationships in a company’s data. The tool creates a knowledge graph that helps AI agents make smarter, more accurate decisions. It may also mark the rise of context engineering as a distinct field within data science. AWS Context works by learning from usage patterns to improve interactions over time. It transforms personal knowledge graphs into broader organisational ones, offering AI agents a rich ‘data lake of nuance and information’ for better reasoning.
The service is identity-aware, ensuring only authorised users can access specific data. It also provides auditable interactions, maintaining transparency and control. By using structural and semantic traversal, AWS Context aggregates context from scattered information silos and repositories.
AWS also previewed new features for AWS Glue Data Catalog. These include business context and semantic search functions to simplify data discovery. Additionally, skill assets were introduced to give AI agents extra context and instructions when working with specialised data. AI reasoning depends on more than just data volume—it relies on the right context. AWS Context and its related tools aim to provide governed data relationships, business rules, and domain knowledge at runtime. The service is now in preview, with potential to reshape how organisations structure and utilise their data.
