Primorsky Krai imposes industrial limits as smog traps pollutants near ground level
Unfavourable weather is expected across most of Primorsky Krai from midnight to 7:00 p.m. on June 27. The conditions will trap pollutants near ground level, leading to temporary restrictions on some industrial activities. This aims to reduce harmful emissions during the period of poor air quality. The region has experienced similar conditions several times this spring. On March 17, thick smog covered Vladivostok, cutting visibility and making breathing difficult. Fine particles in such smog can enter deep into the lungs, causing inflammation and heart-related issues.
Industrial facilities burning coal or emitting combustion byproducts and coal dust will face temporary limits. These measures are part of the federal Clean Air project, which requires affected businesses to switch to a special operating mode. The restrictions will remain in place until the weather improves. Doctors recommend residents stay indoors, close windows, and wear protective masks when smog is severe. The situation is expected to return to normal once the weather changes. Industrial emissions will decrease as soon as conditions allow.
