Omsk launches new interchange to ease metro bridge traffic jams

Construction has started in Omsk on a new interchange at the intersection of Konev Street and 3rd Yeniseiskaya Street. The project aims to improve traffic flow towards the metro bridge and reduce congestion. Over 75 million rubles have been set aside for the upgrades. The current intersection has two lanes leading to the metro bridge, both managed by traffic lights. The new design will add a dedicated lane, letting drivers reach the bridge without stopping at signals. This change is part of a wider effort to ease delays for traffic coming from 3rd Yeniseiskaya Street.

The work includes fitting new traffic light systems and upgrading the area around the junction. Crews will also lay tactile paving for accessibility, install new kerbstones, and repaint road markings. The 'Avangard Microdistrict' bus stop will move to accommodate the changes.

The contractor is responsible for all improvements, including the new signals and surrounding infrastructure. The entire project is due for completion by August 15. The new lane is expected to cut waiting times for drivers heading to the metro bridge. The upgrades will also enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians. All changes should be in place before the mid-August deadline.
