A major traffic redesign is underway at a busy interchange in Omsk’s Left Bank. The project aims to ease congestion and improve flow for drivers heading toward the city centre. Work has already begun on the junction of Konyev Street with 3rd Yeniseiskaya Street and 70 Let Oktyabrya Street. The current intersection has two lanes controlled by traffic lights leading onto the metro bridge. The new layout will remove these lights and introduce dedicated right-turn lanes for smoother movement. Drivers turning from 3rd Yeniseiskaya Street onto the metro bridge will use one of these new lanes. A similar right-turn lane will also serve traffic coming from the right bank of the Irtysh River.
The redesign eliminates the left turn from the metro bridge onto 3rd Yeniseiskaya Street. Motorists needing to make this turn will instead use a designated U-turn area. These changes are part of wider efforts to optimise traffic in the region.
The project has been awarded to Stroitelnaya Firma Kontinent LLC at a cost of 76.5 million rubles. Reconstruction is expected to finish by August 15, 2026. The upgrades will remove traffic lights and add new right-turn lanes to speed up travel. Drivers will no longer be able to turn left directly from the metro bridge. The completed interchange should reduce delays for those heading into the city centre.
