Omsk Region invests 227M rubles to modernize its bus fleet with new vehicles

The Omsk Region has taken steps to modernise its public transport. Governor Vitaly Khotsenko has backed a plan to allocate over 227 million rubles for renewing the city’s bus fleet. The move aims to improve urban mobility with new vehicles on municipal routes. The Omsk city administration has now approved regulations for subsidies to support the purchase of new buses. The funding will cover medium, large, or extra-large buses, provided they are no older than 18 months at delivery. Only vehicles from Russian manufacturers qualify under the scheme.

Applicants must meet several conditions to receive support. They need to operate on regular municipal routes, use the buses for at least five years, and contribute 142.5% of the subsidy amount. Recipients will be chosen through a competitive selection process.

The subsidies come with strict obligations. If a subsidised bus remains unused for over 30 consecutive days, part of the subsidy must be repaid. Any violation of the agreement terms will also trigger repayment requirements. The allocated funds will allow the purchase of 35 large-capacity buses for Omsk’s routes. The new regulations ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public money. The scheme is set to enhance the city’s transport infrastructure with modern, reliable vehicles.
