Uttar Pradesh races to expand clean PNG connections under Yogi Adityanath

The Uttar Pradesh government is accelerating its drive to expand Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections across the state. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the campaign aims to provide modern, clean energy to more households. The effort supports safer, more convenient living while reducing pollution. As of 24 June 2026, the state has issued 160,121 domestic PNG connections. These span 43 gas distribution areas, marking progress towards the target of 1,623,163 connections by the 2026-27 financial year. The current achievement rate stands at 9.86%.

PNG offers uninterrupted gas supply, eliminating the need for repeated cylinder refills. It is also cleaner than traditional fuels, cutting carbon emissions and improving air quality. The government views this as a key step in modernising energy infrastructure and enhancing daily life for residents. The campaign seeks to connect hundreds of thousands of new households to PNG this year. It aligns with the state’s goal of providing safe, eco-friendly energy to as many citizens as possible. The expansion is expected to reinforce Uttar Pradesh’s position among states with advanced energy systems.
