M4 Don Highway tightens truck rules and upgrades safety infrastructure
The M4 Don Highway in Krasnodar Region has introduced new traffic measures to improve safety. These changes include restrictions for heavy vehicles and several infrastructure upgrades along key sections of the road. From 30 April to 13 September 2026, trucks weighing over 15 tons will be banned from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. The restriction applies to the stretch between Goryachy Klyuch and Dzhubga.
Several safety improvements have been made along the route. A concrete barrier, similar to those used in New Jersey, now runs along the median between the 1,402nd and 1,403rd kilometres. Delimiters have also been added along the shoulder and central divider near the interchange at the 1,385th kilometre in Goryachy Klyuch.
Additional upgrades include restraint barriers along the central divider near Gorskoye village at the 1,439th kilometre. A dedicated acceleration and deceleration lane has been added at the 1,389th kilometre. Extended guide islands with repositioned road signs have also been installed near multiple settlements. The new measures aim to reduce accidents and ease congestion during peak travel times. Trucks over 15 tons will face limited access on weekends and holidays, while the upgraded infrastructure should enhance safety for all road users.
