S4 Rail Line Shut Down After Overhead Wire Damage Near Emmerke
The S4 commuter rail line between Barnten and Hildesheim remains closed all day Monday. A broken pole and damaged overhead wires near Emmerke have caused the disruption. Staff shortages at DB InfraGO have added to the problem. The line has been out of service since Saturday after an overhead wire was torn down. As a result, the S4 now terminates at Barnten and is rerouted to Nordstemmen. Passengers can transfer to the RB77 regional train to reach Hildesheim.
A replacement bus service is operating for the closed section, serving all intermediate stops. Two shuttle buses are running nonstop, including overnight, to reduce delays. However, there is no estimated time for when full service will resume.
Passengers are urged to check real-time updates on connections before travelling. The disruption continues to affect travel plans for commuters. Alternative transport options are available, but delays are likely. No timeline has been given for the restoration of normal service.
