Aefligen–Wiler rail line to close for three days in March 2026

The Aefligen–Wiler rail line will shut down for maintenance work in March 2026. BLS has announced a three-day closure, affecting passengers travelling through the route. Replacement buses will operate during the disruption to keep services running.

The closure begins on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 9:00 PM and ends on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 4:30 AM. This follows a longer shutdown in 2024, when the same stretch was closed for 90 days—from July 1 to September 29—due to similar construction work.

Passengers starting their journey in Biberist will need to switch to replacement buses. The temporary transport will cover the affected section while trains remain unavailable.

The upcoming shutdown marks the second major closure on this route in less than two years. Travellers should plan extra time for their trips during the work period. BLS has not yet announced further details on alternative connections or potential delays.
