AI-Powered Cameras End Car Repair Disputes with Tamper-Proof Proof
A new automated camera system is helping car repair businesses avoid disputes over vehicle damage. Developed by CheckSnap GmbH, the technology provides tamper-proof documentation during vehicle intake and release. The system aims to protect workshops from false claims while speeding up workflows.
The CheckSnap system was created by Christian Uthoff, managing director of Uthoff KLS GmbH, to address common issues in the automotive repair industry. His solution captures eight images per vehicle—four high-resolution DSLR shots and four 4K wide-angle photos—from fixed positions. Each image is automatically timestamped, saved, and linked to the vehicle using licence plate recognition.
The package includes eight cameras, a year of software updates, a support hotline, and cloud storage. Customers can extend service coverage for up to three years. Pricing starts at €14,990, with optional accessories sold separately.
Designed for ease of use, the system requires no complex IT setup. It operates independently and is ready immediately after installation. Target users include independent workshops, dealerships, body shops, tyre services, and service centres.
The company, based in Steinheim am Albuch, was co-founded by Sonja Uthoff and Thomas Frömel. They claim the system improves quality control, speeds up claims processing, and ensures transparent workflows.
CheckSnap provides a fully automated way to document vehicle condition before and after repairs. The system's combination of high-resolution imaging, licence plate linking, and cloud backup aims to reduce disputes and improve efficiency. More details are available at www.checksnap.de.
