Air France and KLM reshape 2026 summer routes amid Middle East tensions
Air France and KLM have announced major changes to their summer schedules for 2026. Both airlines will expand capacity on some routes while suspending flights to several Middle Eastern destinations due to ongoing regional tensions. Air France will increase its long-haul capacity by two percent this summer. The airline will also launch a new route to Las Vegas starting April 15, 2026. Meanwhile, its network will cover nearly 170 destinations across 73 countries, including twice-daily flights to London Gatwick.
KLM plans to grow its long-haul capacity by roughly four percent. The Dutch carrier will also add new European routes to Jersey, Santiago de Compostela, and Oviedo. Across Europe, KLM expects to boost seat capacity by around six percent.
Both airlines have paused flights to key Middle Eastern hubs. Air France has temporarily stopped services to Dubai and Riyadh. KLM has removed Tel Aviv, Dubai, Dammam, and Riyadh from its schedule until at least May 17, 2026. The suspensions follow security concerns linked to the crisis in the Middle East, including the Iran conflict and wider regional instability. The adjustments mean more options for travellers on European and long-haul routes. However, passengers heading to the Middle East will face limited choices until conditions improve. Both airlines have stated that the suspensions will remain in place until further notice.
