Al-Bawarih wind season brings scorching heat and dust storms by June 7
The Al-Bawarih wind season is set to begin between June 7 and June 9, lasting until July 16. Known for its strong, dust-filled northern winds, this seasonal phenomenon brings extreme heat and arid conditions to the region. Forecasters have already warned of rising temperatures and shifting wind patterns in the coming weeks. The season unfolds in distinct phases, starting with the Al-Batin rise from May 25 to June 6. This early stage sets the tone for the weeks ahead, with temperatures climbing steadily.
Between June 20 and July 2, the Al-Tuwaibi’ period takes hold, marked by intense heat and scorching winds. By the first week of July, the first Gemini phase—running from July 3 to July 15—brings even hotter conditions, with frequent Simoom winds and temperatures soaring. Meteorologists predict a gradual increase in heat, with readings potentially exceeding 48°C and nearing 50°C over the weekend. The season’s final phase, from July 16 to July 28, concludes the cycle of dust-laden winds. These conditions arise from a mix of factors, including the Indian monsoon low, extreme heat, and the sun’s position, all contributing to the region’s dry, dusty climate. The start of the week will see scattered clouds and active northwesterly winds, signalling the transition into the peak of the Al-Bawarih season.
The Al-Bawarih winds will dominate weather patterns until late July, with temperatures peaking above 48°C. Residents and authorities are advised to prepare for extreme heat, dust storms, and strong northern winds throughout the season. The combination of atmospheric pressure shifts and seasonal heat will sustain these harsh conditions for weeks.
