Almaty's Zharokov Street faces six-month roadworks starting March 26

Major roadworks will soon begin on Zharokov Street in Almaty, affecting two key bus routes. From March 26, sections of the street between Khodzhanov and Dunaevsky will undergo heating network upgrades and asphalt replacement. The changes will disrupt services for around six months, prompting adjustments to schedules and directions for buses 19 and 56.

Starting March 26, southbound buses on route No. 56 will travel in reverse along the affected stretch of Zharokov Street. The same reversal applies to southbound buses on route No. 19. Northbound services for both routes will continue as usual, with no alterations to their paths.

Both routes will also operate under temporary timetables during the construction period. Passengers have been advised to check updated schedules and allow extra time for journeys. The work, expected to last until late September, includes replacing ageing heating infrastructure and resurfacing the road. Authorities have stressed that only southbound lanes will face disruptions. Northbound buses on routes 19 and 56 will maintain their regular routes and stops throughout the project.

The six-month project aims to improve heating reliability and road conditions on Zharokov Street. Until completion, passengers should expect delays and plan trips accordingly. Updated route maps and timetables will be available through the city's transport website and at bus stops.
