Amazon's AI tool helps readers recap books without spoilers

Amazon has launched an AI-powered tool called Story So Far to help readers catch up on books without spoilers. The feature creates concise summaries of plots and characters based on the exact page a reader has reached. It aims to assist those juggling multiple titles or returning to a book after a break.

The tool works by analysing only the sections a reader has already covered. It then generates a clear, spoiler-free recap of key events and characters. This ensures no details from unread chapters are revealed.

*Story So Far* is available for thousands of popular English-language e-books. These include titles bought from the Amazon bookstore or accessed via Kindle Unlimited. However, the feature is currently limited to customers in the USA. To use it, readers can find the *Read recap* button in their Kindle Library. Alternatively, they can tap the three-dot menu while inside a book. The feature supports all modern Kindle e-readers and Kindle apps for Android and iOS. Devices must run software version 5.19.4.0.1 or later to access it.

The new tool offers a quick way to refresh memory without ruining unread sections. It is now live for eligible Kindle users across supported devices. Amazon has not announced plans to expand the feature beyond the US market yet.
