Assam's Sonitpur district begins critical EVM checks ahead of elections
An additional round of checks for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in Assam's Sonitpur district is set to begin soon. The process, known as First Level Checking (FLC), will run from February 16 to 18. Authorities have confirmed that all preparations are in place for a smooth and transparent procedure.
The FLC will take place at the EVM/VVPAT Warehouse of the Election Office in Sonitpur. Officials have arranged logistics and security measures to maintain compliance with the Election Commission of India's (ECI) guidelines. Every step will follow the strict protocols outlined in the ECI's Manual on EVMs.
The checks aim to verify the functionality and accuracy of the machines ahead of future elections. While specific details on the number of constituencies involved remain unconfirmed, the process reflects standard pre-election procedures. Authorities have emphasised that transparency and adherence to rules will be prioritised throughout.
The three-day verification will ensure that all EVMs meet the required standards before use. Officials have reiterated their commitment to following ECI directives without deviation. The outcome will determine the readiness of the machines for upcoming electoral processes.
