Aterian's Eastinco Joins Forces with Wogen to Boost Tantalum Supply Chain

Aterian plc's subsidiary, Eastinco, has launched trading and export operations under a new joint venture (JV) with Wogen Resources Limited. The partnership aims to strengthen the supply chain for critical minerals, particularly tantalum, amid soaring global demand. Both companies have emphasised responsible sourcing and traceability as core priorities in the collaboration.

The JV builds on Eastinco's recent milestone of completing its first export operation with Wogen. Additional supply is now being aggregated for further shipments under the new framework. This move aligns with Aterian's broader strategy to create a fully traceable, compliant, and responsibly sourced critical minerals platform.

The partnership provides Eastinco with immediate benefits, including improved working capital and same-day purchase liquidity. This reduces reliance on equity funding while increasing trading volumes and margin opportunities. Aterian expects the JV to accelerate cash flow generation, with a target of covering all operational expenses through trading revenues by 2026. Tantalum, a key product for Eastinco, is in high demand across electronics, AI infrastructure, and energy transition sectors. It is used in smartphones, laptops, high-performance computing chips, and electric vehicle batteries. Prices for tantalum ore have recently hit record levels, reaching around US$225 per pound due to tightening supply and rising demand. China, which dominates 60% of global EV production, remains a major market for these materials. Wogen, established in 1972, brings decades of experience in the non-ferrous metals industry, known for its integrity and professionalism. The JV also grants Eastinco access to international markets, enhanced liquidity, and third-party validation, strengthening its position with stakeholders. A robust risk management and governance framework ensures compliance with responsible sourcing standards.

The JV between Eastinco and Wogen is set to expand tantalum supply chains while maintaining strict traceability. With prices at historic highs and demand driven by AI, electronics, and energy sectors, the partnership positions both companies to capitalise on market growth. Aterian's focus remains on achieving sustainable trading revenues and operational efficiency by 2026.
