Atlanta's Rapid A-Line BRT launches April 28 with faster downtown connections

Atlanta's new Summerhill bus rapid transit (BRT) line, the Rapid A-Line, is set to launch its first phase on April 28. The line will connect downtown with the Beltline's southside trail, offering faster and more reliable journeys for passengers.

The initial phase of the Rapid A-Line includes 14 stops. It will link key locations such as Five Points, Georgia State, and Garnett stations, where riders can transfer to MARTA's heavy rail network. The route also runs along Hank Aaron Drive, improving access to the Beltline's southside trail.

This project is part of MARTA's NextGen Bus Network, designed to increase service frequency and efficiency. A second phase of the BRT line is scheduled to open later this fall. Future expansions under the NextGen plan may extend improved transit options to Clayton County, Gwinnett County, and Cobb County.

The launch of the Rapid A-Line marks a step toward better public transport in Atlanta. With 14 stops and connections to MARTA rail, the line aims to streamline travel for residents and visitors. Further phases and potential county expansions could widen its reach in the coming years.
