Axiology Secures €5M to Revolutionize Europe's Digital Securities Trading
Axiology, a capital markets infrastructure specialist, has secured €5 million in seed funding. The company holds a unique licence under the EU's DLT Pilot Regime, enabling it to operate a regulated trading and settlement system for digital securities. Its technology is already in use, supporting European crowdfunding platforms issuing debt instruments as bonds to investors.
The company operates a private, permissioned network designed for regulatory compliance. This system ensures transaction finality and provides tamper-proof records for audits. Currently, only a few firms in Europe hold a similar licence, including Germany's Cashlink and Securitize, both operating under the same EU framework.
Axiology's platform is live and offers three key services: a securities depository, shareholder registry management, and a Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF). The MTF is built into its unified trading and settlement infrastructure, streamlining processes for users. The shareholder registry service is already active in Lithuania, tracking over €21 million in shares.
With the new funding, the firm plans to expand its operational capacity and push forward its market strategy. It also intends to join wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC) projects, such as the ECB's Appia and Pontes initiatives. Additionally, Axiology will connect with TARGET2, the EU's real-time gross settlement system, to improve settlement efficiency.
The company's broader goal is to unify Europe's fragmented capital markets. By consolidating issuance, custody, trading, and settlement into one regulated system, it aims to simplify cross-border transactions for businesses and investors.
The €5 million investment will help Axiology scale its operations and strengthen its position in regulated digital markets. Its participation in CBDC projects and integration with TARGET2 could further enhance settlement processes across Europe. The firm's technology is already supporting live transactions, with millions in assets recorded on its platform.
