Babcock secures £60M UK defence deal for non-combat vehicle fleet

Babcock has won a five-year contract from the UK Ministry of Defence to manage its non-combat vehicle fleet. Known as the 'white fleet', these civilian-registered vehicles support military operations. The deal, named Phoenix 3, is worth approximately £60 million.

The contract covers a wide range of services for the MOD's white fleet. Babcock will handle vehicle sourcing, procurement, and maintenance. It will also manage repairs and accident responses across UK and overseas locations.

A new Fleet Management Information System (FMIS) will be introduced as part of the agreement. This bespoke system will help track and maintain the fleet's operational readiness. Kate Robinson, Managing Director of Through Life Equipment Support at Babcock, stated that the contract ensures the MOD's vehicles remain mobile and fully functional. The deal is expected to support around 60 jobs within Babcock's operations. Options to extend the contract for up to five more years are included in the terms.

The Phoenix 3 contract strengthens Babcock's role in maintaining the MOD's non-combat vehicle fleet. The £60 million agreement includes provisions for future extensions. The company will continue providing essential services to keep the fleet operational both in the UK and abroad.
