Bad Krozingen launches Frelo bike-sharing with 50 e-bikes and new repair hubs

Bad Krozingen has expanded its transport options with the launch of the Frelo bike-sharing system. The service arrived on March 24, 2026, offering 50 bicycles, including e-bikes, across ten stations in the town. This move supports the city's push for greener travel and better connections at its train station. Preparations for the Frelo launch included new bike parking at Bad Krozingen train station. The site has also gained a 24/7 ADAC repair station, stocked with tools for quick fixes. These upgrades align with plans to turn the station into a modern mobility hub.

The Frelo network now spans 162 stations and around 1,200 bicycles across southern Baden. In Bad Krozingen alone, riders have made over 800 rentals since the system's introduction. The expansion extends to 18 more municipalities in Baden-Württemberg, though usage figures for those areas remain unreported. City officials hope the scheme will encourage more people to cycle. By improving access to bikes and repair facilities, they aim to cut car use and support climate-friendly travel in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald region.

The Frelo system in Bad Krozingen has seen strong early uptake, with 800 rentals recorded in its first weeks. The town's upgraded train station now offers better cycling infrastructure, including round-the-clock repairs. These changes reflect a broader effort to boost sustainable transport across the region.
